Smokeys with the Top Down

Nice to see everyone again. For those that don’t know, Kristin and I just got back from our wonderful trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I took off Friday and Monday to make this into a 4-day vacation.

Our first day, we stopped at Fuddruckers in Gwinnett before leaving the city. Once full, we enjoyed a scenic ride through the Tennessee foothills, and up Hwy. 441. We checked into our cabin off of the main strip in Gatlinburg about 5:30. It was about a 10 minute walk down the road to get to the main strip, and we didn’t have to deal with the noise of traffic at night.

Saturday we went to Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum and got grossed out. I recommend it for anyone who is not squeamish. We took the lift to the top of one of the mountains overlooking the whole city. Check out the image below:

Kristin tried her nerves at the Earthquake ride and lost, and we found out that all of the restaurants close before 10. Instead of dinner, we spent some time sitting at Jose’s cantina on the main strip drinking Margaritas. We got tired from all of the walking and the alcohol, so we went back to the cabin about 6. We ended up eating foot long corn dogs and ice cream and a candy apple since everything closed by the time we came back.

Sunday we rode into Pidgeon Forge, and Kristin and I played a fierce game of Laser tag. We found out we are both really out of shape. I can barely walk up and down stairs today! Kristin also talked me into trying the extreme activity of indoor skydiving. I really enjoyed the experience, all though the training video didn’t do much to muster my confidence.

Monday we headed back after making a few purchases we held out on, so we didn’t have to carry around bags all day. I enjoyed my trip back through the Smokey Mountains with the convertible top down. Kristin was mumbling nonsense, as she was on the verge of sleep. It was all very relaxing.

And that brings me to today. Back at work and school, arrgh!
