Necessity is the mother of all invention. I was a Blogger user back before the days when Blogger had comments. Many people went to third-party solutions, namely Blogkomm. This has been a great solution for me as long as I used Blogger. I however, have decided that there is more value in using WordPress over Blogger recently. So how did I make the switch?
I used the Blogger import administration tool built into WordPress to get the posts. It reports that it will get the posts AND the comments. This is correct, as long as you are using Blogger’s (recent) commenting system. For Blogkomm comments, I have written a script that will convert the comments file into a MySQL file that can be imported into WordPress painlessly.
This script has been a while in the making. I made a point to make it in a way that others can use it, if they wish. This is because NO OTHER TOOL EXISTED prior to this one that has this functionality. I would love feedback from anyone that can make use of this script.
Here is the script, so enjoy!
Congrats, you married man! Is there any pictures of the wedding anywhere? I’m so happy for you two 🙂

Looks like the wife hasn’t sucked the geek out of you yet 😉 Good work. You will like wordpress, I haven’t used blogger, but I feel it is more costomizable. Please tell me you are going to change from the boring default theme 🙂
