Honesty IS the best policy…
I have been avoiding my parents for the last several weeks on a very important issue that has come up in my life. I was convinced that the type of relationship they wanted with their son was the relationship where I lie and tell them what they want to hear. As it turns out – not so. And it feels so much better after letting everything out on the table again. No more secrets. And no more lies.

I firmly beleive that too. There is no way to have any kind of friendship or relationship without honesty. I am very glad you have gotten the freedom that comes from it.

My technique is not so much me being honest as it is me saying “this is how it’s gonna be whether you like it or not.
